Meet The Staff

Sheila Contento
Director of Sales

A graduate of Pennsylvania State University, Sheila is an avid college football fan and enjoys any reason to go back to visit “Happy Valley”. Prior to graduation Sheila had the opportunity to be a Program Ambassador for Penn State, studying abroad in Melbourne, Australia. Following graduation, she interned with the Fightin Phils before being moved up to the Lehigh Valley in 2007 to help open the Lehigh Valley IronPigs their first season. While there, she worked alongside the Director of Special Events executing corporate parties, business trainings, job fairs, weddings, and other social events.
Sheila began her career with the hotel in 2008, previously holding the titles of Group Sales Manager and Senior Sales Manager – most recently named Director of Sales. In 2014 she earned the CTIS (Certified Travel Industry Specialist) Certification from the American Bus Association. She has been an active member of ABA, NTA, OMCA, PASAE, MPMPI, LLAMA and the Greater Reading Young Professionals, and currently serves on the Pottstown PAL Board.

Sheila resides in Exeter Township with her teacher/football coach husband Ryan, daughter Taylin and their dog Trotter.

Laura Taylor
Director of Special Events

Laura Taylor has over a decade of experience in the event industry. Through the years she has worked in all aspects of hospitality. Her journey began in New Orleans, LA where she worked her way from kitchen employee to event planner for Pigéon Catering. Laura moved back to the great state of Pennsylvania and continued her love for events with Boscov’s Catering, Stokesay Castle and other Berks County venues to coordinate and produce weddings, mitzvahs, social occasions, and non-profit events.
Laura joined the Crowne Plaza sales force in 2012 and quickly became a leader in the local event community. She has directed numerous high profile events with tremendous success while building an even more powerful relationships, which gained her a reputation for the go-to person for high-end affairs. This led her to be named the Director of Special Events for the Crowne Plaza Reading Hotel.

When she is not making clients’ dreams come true, Laura is kept very busy with her husband, two young children, hunger for new food trends, and thirst for adventure.

Carolyn Spano
Director of Corporate Catering

Carolyn is our Director of Corporate Catering extroidenaire! With a wave of her magic wand, everything from a grandiose gala to a corporate meeting is splendidly and perfectly arranged. She is one of the most congenial, cheerful and vivacious people you will ever meet – that is if you haven’t already! We sometimes think that everyone knows her; we are certain that everyone should! Events and meetings small and large, are always accentuated by an enthusiastic “happy clap” from Carolyn. It is not at all surprising to learn that she was class president both in high school and at Harcum College where she received an associate degree in Travel & Tourism. She came to us from Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce, working there for 8 year before making the Crowne Plaza Reading home. She also worked for several nonprofits in development. Always energetic and sociable, Carolyn can be found breezing about town with her wonderful husband, Mark, and their exceptionally adorable children, Megan, Max and Paige. When the air turns warm, though, the family is often relaxing and splashing at their favorite “hot spot”, the pool. But if the day is cloudy and you’re feeling blue, Carolyn, so compassionate and encouraging, will always be there with a kind word and a smile. Kelly McFeaters
Group Sales Manager

Kelly McFeaters was born and raised in Reading, PA…. and never left. A graduate of Penn State University with a BA in Advertising she bleeds blue and white and spends her Saturday’s in the Fall cheering on the Nittany Lions. Kelly spent her college years feeding her creative side by working part-time at Michael’s Arts and Crafts and as a marketing intern at St Joseph Medical Center in Reading. Prior to the Crowne Plaza, Kelly worked at Egan Sign as project manager for national sign programs. She also works as a freelance wedding photographer for the Dave Zerbe Studio of Photography.

Kelly joined the Crowne Plaza sales team in November 2015 as Group Sales Manager. Her favorite part of her new role is getting to know her clients and making sure their stay is the best it can be. She is a member of the Lancaster Lodging, Attractions & Meeting Association, American Bus Association, and Greater Reading Young Professionals. Kelly resides in Sinking Spring with her husband Scott, her daughter Riley, and two cats Chloe and Penny.

Kaelan Landis
Catering Coordinator

Kaelan Landis born and raised in Harleysville, Pennsylvania. Kaelan started in the hospitality business when she was sixteen at Arbour Square Community Home in Harleysville, Pennsylvania. She worked there for 5 years on and off through college. She is a recent Indiana University of Pennsylvania Graduate. She majored in Hospitality Management and is now our Catering Coordinator. While at Indiana University of Pennsylvania Kaelan worked at Grubs Sports Bar, Indiana County Club and also worked at the School Library. To fill up the little free time she had, Kaelan joined the National Sorority of Sigma Sigma Sigma. During her time in the sorority she was Education Director and Vice President of New Members. After graduating she started looking for her first job as a college graduate. She found the perfect fit at the Crowne Plaza Reading! Kaelan joined the Crowne sales team in June 2015. Kaelan Is enjoying every learning experience she has been given.

Chelsea Eisenberg
Corporate Sales Manager

Chelsea, unlike most of our sales team is quite new to the Greater Reading area. She grew up in the suburbs of New York City and loves spending time with her large family. As a child, every weekend was a birthday or cause for celebration which led her to her love of hospitality. She went to James Madison University and graduated with a BS in Hospitality Management, minor in Business and has worked in the hotel industry ever since. She now resides in Philadelphia and spends her free time exploring the city, trying new restaurants and experimenting in the kitchen.

Chelsea has dabbled in event production, hotel operations and now looks to settle into her role as Corporate Sales manager, helping our business travelers find their home here at the Crowne. She is a member of Greater Reading Young Professionals and continues to discover the area through learning about her clients and their companies.
